Like all audio components the microphone has a frequency response which must be allowed for in the calcuations that SAGE performs. If you have a microphone with a fairly flat frequency response then you can simply select the flat profile. Otherwise, the frequency response chart can often be obtained from the manufacturer or the supplier of the microphone. Please see the SAGE help file for more information on using the frequency response chart.

SAGE comes with profiles for a small number of microphones which will grow with time. Currently supported microphones are:

This page will be update with information on the availability of calibrated microphones as I receive it. If you create any profiles for microphones please e-mail them to me at RScullion@Kagi.com so that I can add them to the ones available in the program.

Please note that, as a general rule, microphone frequency response tends to be fairly flat at lower frequencies and so calibration is less important in the shareware version of SAGE which limits you to a maximum frequency of 4KHz.
